Chen Yuanshan, a young man returning to his hometown, brings two million yuan back to Shiqiao Village and offers to buy strawberries for eight yuan per jin in cash, while warning the villagers in advance about an approaching cold wave. Misled by impostors posing as fruit merchants, some villagers set up roadblocks to prevent the strawberries from being sold. Five days later, the cold wave strikes, damaging some greenhouses, and the scammers appear to buy the frozen fruit at rock-bottom prices before being arrested by the police. Chen Yuanshan then turns to buying strawberries in neighboring Qingshui Town, builds a sorting center, and ships the produce nationwide, boosting local incomes. A year later, he returns to Shiqiao Village, buys strawberries at fair prices, creates jobs, and helps his fellow villagers resume production and build a prosperous future together.
