Back Then, You Scoffed at 3.2 Yuan; Now, the Whole Village Desperately Needs the Boilers Fired Up in the Rain
Jia Kang has a complete supply chain for picking, drying, and selling daylilies. Before the harvest window opened, he agreed with the village to buy freshly picked daylilies at 3.2 yuan per jin. This drew the attention of Liao Laosan, an out-of-town flower trader. Liao Laosan tempted He Guifen with a high price of 5.1 yuan per jin for two mu of land and incited the villagers to drive Jia Kang away. He deliberately delayed entering the village, waiting for torrential rain to turn the fresh buds into inferior, rotten produce before swooping in to buy up daylilies from 300 mu of land at just 50 cents per jin. Having already anticipated the weather risks, Jia Kang went to a neighboring village that had honored its agreement and secured his place in the drying facility's schedule. In the end, the villagers arrive at his door with rotten flowers, begging for help. Jia Kang agrees to take the flowers again under new terms involving quality testing, batch management, and loss control, using his supply-chain resources to help the entire village minimize its losses.
