Gui Niang spends thirty coins to save a little stone lion that is about to be smashed. To her surprise, it can transform into a golden-maned spirit lion, identify jade, and guard entrances. It also shares a bond with her dating back to when they saved each other in childhood. Shopkeeper Qian covets its abilities. After failing to steal the lion, he accuses her of swapping it and conceals the fact that the old bridge hides jade beneath it. He tricks her into selling it cheaply before risking his life to extract the precious material. When the bridge stones are about to collapse, the little lion transforms into a mighty lion and holds up the heavy stones, helping everyone rescue a trapped worker. However, it exhausts its strength and turns back into a stone statue. Gui Niang stays by its side, waiting for it to awaken. The villagers reclaim the property they are owed and leave a bowl of jade fragments for the lion. At last, she finally hears it call her 'Big Sister' again.
