Hua Er goes out to learn the craft of planting honeysuckle, and returns to the barren Honeysuckle Village. The south slope behind the village has been abandoned for years, and the villagers only grow miscellaneous grains, depending on the weather for food. Hua Er proposes planting honeysuckle, which is opposed by Uncle Hua, who believes there is no way to sell it. Hua Er insists on trial planting, clearing the slope, cutting and rooting seedlings, building frames, and pruning with A Shi and Da Niu. After enduring pests and rainy weather, they finally harvest honeysuckle, scent tea, distill dew, brew wine, make preserves, boil paste, and make soap, opening up sales channels, leading the whole village to turn the barren slope into a garden, and making the fragrance of honeysuckle float all over the mountain village.
