In Northeast China in 1978, Chen Chang'an, a frail and sickly young man, is forced by the Sun family to sever family ties and surrender his home. With nowhere left to turn, he risks his life entering the Forbidden Mountain and obtains a thousand-year-old mountain marrow fruit. Cured of his illness and blessed with supernatural strength, he ventures into the mountains to hunt, dig for treasures, and gather wild ginseng and lingzhi mushrooms, building his fortune. After seeing through Qian Guangfa's scheme to buy up goods at rock-bottom prices, he joins forces with forest ranger Lin Guoqiang to fight poachers.
