Modern young men Lin Mo and his friend Zhao Hao are involved in a car accident and transmigrate together into the world of the power fantasy novel Return of the Immortal Emperor. Lin Mo becomes a cannon-fodder villain who gets his engagement broken off right at the beginning, while Zhao Hao turns into a stray dog. To rewrite their doomed fate, the two use their knowledge of the plot to turn the tables and demand compensation for the broken engagement. They sneak into the Xuantian Sect, seize the original owner's destined opportunities, and cultivate the Burning Heaven Art, steadily rising against all odds. They meet Su Wanqing, the sect master's daughter, repeatedly foil the villains' schemes, and ultimately join forces to fight Yao Lao, who has taken over another's body. Together, they save the Xuantian Sect and embark on a carefree journey of immortal cultivation.
