Early 1980s, Kaoshantun in the north. The mute Lin Zhizhi is dainty and daring. Clearly living under someone else's roof, she dares to climb over Song Baichuan's courtyard wall, spend his "wife-finding savings", and firmly wrap the toughest and most unapproachable tough guy in the whole village around her finger. Others bully her for being mute, laugh at her for being silly, and curse her for not being worthy, but Song Baichuan protects her as the apple of his eye.
