The King Told Me to Come Patrol the Mountain
Jingxigui and Linglichong, two little demons from Lotus Cave, are ordered to take magical treasures and capture Tang Seng, but they are tricked by Sun Wukong and lose the Purple-Gold Red Gourd. Their cave is destroyed, leaving them homeless and on the run. Along the way, they witness the dangers of the demon world and receive kind help from an ordinary human, Auntie Wang. They settle on Flat-Top Mountain and establish a lost-and-found agency to make a living. When their former colleagues arrive to steal their business, the two defeat them with their own abilities. Later, they return the heavenly treasures and, for choosing kindness and helping others, are appointed by the Jade Emperor as the Earth Gods of Flat-Top Mountain. The two little demons who once cared only about staying alive ultimately become protectors of the local people and enjoy a peaceful life.

연화동의 작은 요괴 정세귀와 영리충은 당승을 잡으라는 명령을 받고 법보를 들고 나선다. 그러나 손오공에게 농락당해 자금홍호로를 잃어버리고 만다. 동굴까지 파괴되어 집을 잃은 두 요괴는 이곳저곳을 떠돌며 도망친다. 그 과정에서 요괴 세계의 험악함을 경험하고, 평범한 인간인 왕 아주머니의 따뜻한 도움도 받는다. 두 사람은 평정산에 정착해 생계를 위해 분실물 찾기 사무소를 연다. 옛 동료들이 찾아와 장사를 빼앗으려 하지만, 두 사람은 실력으로 그들을 물리친다. 이후 하늘의 보물들을 돌려주고 선한 마음으로 사람들을 도운 공로를 인정받아 옥황상제로부터 평정산의 토지신으로 임명된다. 한때 그저 목숨을 부지하는 것만 생각했던 두 작은 요괴는 결국 한 지역의 백성을 지키며 평온한 삶을 살아간다.
