Moved by He Zongyuan's sincerity, the Immortal Lord Lin Xiao descends from the mountain and marries into the He family. He uses the Spirit Leaf of Returning to Origin to repair the earth's spiritual veins and avert a heavenly calamity. Yet the He family fails to recognize his worth. At the final moment, they burn the marriage contract and knock over the jade box, ruining everything. Lin Xiao then turns to the Jiang family, who likewise foolishly drive away the Immortal Lord and invite the wandering sorcerer Qi Xuandao. The curse rebounds, killing Qi Xuandao and leaving Jiang Ruoshuang on the brink of death. Lin Xiao returns to Mount Wugou. In recognition of He Mingyue's year of devoted service, he gifts her a Fruit of Returning to Origin, but the rest of the He family cannot be forgiven. The Jiang family finds no one willing to help. Meanwhile, Qi Xuandao's death draws the attention of the Chixiao Sect, whose master, Lie Yanzi, leads his disciples to seek revenge.
