After being separated for more than twenty years, Cheng Yue reunites with his family. His father, Cheng Haishan, the founder of Yuanhang, disguises himself as a poor fisherman and uses a simple test to welcome his son home. His gold-digging girlfriend leaves him, while restoration expert Tang Yutang treats him with genuine affection, and the two grow to understand and love each other. Cheng Yue investigates old shipping accounts involving the Tang family, bringing the truth to light and ensuring the villains face justice. After their marriage, an ancestral sea chart leads to a sunken treasure fleet from the Ming dynasty and the old mystery of the sinking of the Hai Ping. He forms a three-party alliance to verify a compass and track down the authentic seal from the sunken ship, uncovering forty years of resentment between Cheng and Shao. Construction begins on a deep-water port, the Tang family's shipping business is revived, and Cheng and Shao reconcile. The sea hides no old debts; Cheng and Shao sail together, and the Cheng family's old accounts are finally settled.
