Su Wanning, a retired illustrator, has been using the neighborhood's fire equipment room without charge to collect fresh grocery deliveries for her neighbors for three years. When Wang Guilan becomes resentful because Su Wanning refuses to help carry her expensive durians upstairs, she spreads rumors and causes a scene at her door, resulting in the durians being damaged and tensions between the two families escalating. Su Wanning finally stops tolerating the abuse. She establishes a legally compliant fresh-goods delivery service and creates a blacklist, defending her reputation through legal means. Abandoned by everyone around her, Wang Guilan sees her marriage plans fall apart and eventually moves away. Meanwhile, Su Wanning stands her ground and begins a new chapter in her life.
