A single notice of cancellation forces a seven-day wager to create a "breathing lamp." Woodwork and mathematics go from conflict to complementarity; the lamp bone is repeatedly broken and modified, finally standing firm when the wind rises and winning first place. Opponents turn from wreckers into helpers, and after their identities are revealed, they still agree to establish independence based on their own craftsmanship and accounts. Thereafter, passing on skills to apprentices, expanding orders, and holding gatherings, lamps light up one by one, and life moves from poverty toward stable reunion.
