Forty-year-old Chen Deshun, an eighth-grade benchworker at the Red Star Factory, suffered successive heavy blows: his wife cheated, he was laid off unexpectedly, his mother fell gravely ill, and his compensation money was given by his wife to her lover. Humiliated for medical expenses, witnessing his son beaten, and suspected of having cancer, he no longer endured it. Liu Yumei and others from the tavern stepped in to help. He took back his technical achievements to found a mold factory, establishing his career through his craftsmanship. His ex-wife's plea for reconciliation was rejected, and the villains reaped what they sowed. Chen Deshun chose Liu Yumei, guarded his family, and restarted his life in middle age.
