Two Steamed Buns, A Lifetime of Grace
On a snowy winter night in December 1993, sixteen-year-old orphan Liu Shuanzi collapsed from hunger at the village entrance, having stolen a steamed bun from the windowsill of the widow Chen Cuilian. Instead of scolding him upon catching him, she handed him two hot steamed buns and offered her only one hundred yuan, urging him to live on. Over twenty years later, the village tyrant tried to forcibly demolish her earthen house, prompting Liu Shuanzi, now a multi-hundred-millionaire businessman, to drive back and drop to his knees in the snow to call her sister. He built her a house, cured her illness, toppled the village tyrant, and led the entire village to prosperity. When his capital chain broke, Chen Cuilian brought out her 280,000 yuan in retirement savings to help him. Unrelated by blood, the sister and brother guarded each other with two steamed buns for a lifetime. He built the Steamed Bun House to continue this kindness.
