Young Lu Quji was trapped in Fallen Immortal Village for thirteen years from childhood. Born with the bones of a true dragon and a naturally frail constitution, he received a heavenly book from a mad Taoist priest. Princess Dongfang Yingluo, the eldest princess of Great Yu, enters the village in search of Tian Bu Li, the black blade that slew its master, and takes him out of his predicament. Assassins pursue them at every turn, and Tang Xishan, the blade immortal of Miaojiang, dies protecting the two. Lu Quji makes his way to the capital, establishes himself by opening a shop in Yunshen Alley, and befriends the chivalrous Xu Zian. He becomes embroiled in the imperial struggle among five dragons for the throne, as well as the conflicts between the martial world and court of Great Feng and Great Yu. Wielding Tian Bu Li and carrying the secret of the dragon, he follows the blade as his path, navigates rival forces, and vows to defy fate, uncover the answer to the true dragon's promise, and forge his own way through both the imperial court and the martial world.
