That Bowl of Black Chicken Soup That Was Given Away
Gu Nian, a high school teacher who has been married for five years, discovers that the nourishing frozen black chicken soup her mother specially prepared to help with her anemia was secretly given away by her husband, Shen Yan, to their downstairs neighbor, Lin Zhi, who has just given birth. What seems like a trivial incident involving a bowl of soup gradually exposes a web of hidden truths. Under the pretext of helping a single mother out of kindness, Shen Yan recklessly squanders their marital assets. He spends 86,000 yuan renovating a rental home for Lin Zhi, misappropriates the nutritional supplements and gold jewelry his mother gave Gu Nian, and even uses Gu Nian's privileges as a teacher living in the residential compound to arrange a one-month celebration for Lin Zhi's baby.
