Wen Zhong, the Grand Preceptor of the Shang Dynasty, personally leads a mighty army on an expedition against Xiqi to protect the foundations of the Shang state. Outside Xiqi City, the Ten Heavenly Lords establish the extraordinarily dangerous Ten Ultimate Formations. Jiang Ziya invites Randeng Daoren of the Chan Sect to oversee the breaking of the formations. The Twelve Immortals take turns entering the battle, and formations such as the Heaven-Extinguishing Formation and the Earth-Flaming Formation are successively destroyed. After Wen Zhong loses one general after another and finds himself at a loss, he personally travels to Luofu Cave on Mount Emei to invite Zhao Gongming, an exalted immortal of the Jie Sect. With his formidable magical powers, Zhao Gongming defeats several immortals of the Chan Sect in succession, but is ambushed by Randeng Daoren and forced to retreat wounded.
