Reborn three days after the Gu family's raid and confiscation, Shen Zhao resolves to rewrite the tragedy, secretly swapping fabricated evidence and protecting the Gu family's remaining subordinates, vowing to clear the Gu family's grievances. However, a surviving Gu Yan is blinded by hatred, and fueled by Xie Linghui's constant instigations, he concludes that Shen Zhao is a traitor, repeatedly standing against her, casting her into the cold palace, and stripping her of her empress status.
