The Fire Must Be Guarded, and People Even More So
On the night the performance was halted due to safety concerns, Lin Shouyi, an inheritor of the Fire Tiger tradition, is persuaded by his daughter to leave the stage, while his young apprentice, Zhou Sheng, is preparing to take a job at a factory. In the courtyard, the three confront old injuries, unpaid debts, misleading edits, and the struggle to make a living. Lin Shouyi refuses to perform again in exchange for extra money. He admits that he fears the tradition will be lost, but refuses to make the younger generation responsible for his fears any longer. His daughter begins keeping a complete record, while his apprentice keeps his employment options open. There is no overnight fame or sponsorship, only a fire-free practice session where everyone is allowed to call a halt, helping them rediscover the true meaning of perseverance.
