Mountains and Rivers Have Their Bounds
The old bridge route drawings do not match the existing stone markers and riverbanks. Following the drawings to lay out the route could result in misalignment at the bridge connections. Shen Qingci, together with Gu Linchuan and Ye Xiaoman, consults old archives, surveys the riverbanks, and rechecks the bridge foundations before calibrating the entire route from an observation platform halfway up the mountain. Through fixed survey points, repeated measurements, cross-verification, and publicly reproducible calculations, they discover that the discrepancy stems from the failure to combine the original drawing benchmarks with subsequent records of changes to the riverbanks in the archives. They redraw and revise the plans, producing a traceable bridge route proposal. Through her commitment to the truth and sense of responsibility, Shen Qingci also earns everyone's trust.
