By Entering the Mountains, Holding Up a Family
After Liu Yue's father disappears, the family owes Ma San 28 yuan, and even their only old hunting rifle is about to be seized as repayment. Gousheng, a poor young man, shoulders the rifle and heads into the mountains. Thanks to his ability to read the terrain and track animals, he clears the debt in three days and takes the Liu family into the county's mountain produce market. To monopolize the trade, Ma San schemes to destroy their hunting grounds and even forces the truth behind Liu Dashan's disappearance to come to light. Facing forest fires, blizzards, and countless dangers, Gousheng not only rescues his father-in-law but also protects Birch Valley, the mountain's treasure trove of food. He thought he was marrying a wife, but in the end, he realizes that what he has gained is a family.
