The three Shen brothers happen upon a little girl named Nian Nian, whom her stepmother has abandoned on a rocky reef, and rescue her. Their family is already desperately poor, and they must also contend with the schemes and greed of their eldest aunt, Liu, and her family. Nian Nian has an extraordinary talent for finding seafood, able to pinpoint crabs and oysters hidden in the cracks of the reefs. As the three brothers make a living gathering seafood, repairing their leaky, dilapidated home, and protecting Nian Nian, they must also face false accusations from the eldest branch of the family and challenges to compete in gathering seafood in front of everyone. Through poverty and hardship, they rely on one another, protecting their little family and holding on to their kind hearts.
