Xu Yi, a young man from modern times, travels back to a mountain village in the 1980s. After overcoming the pain and suffering of cerebral palsy, he resolves to shoulder the family's financial burdens. He treats his lame, quiet wife and his young sister-in-law with kindness and is grateful to the neighbors who help him. He makes an honest living by hunting in the mountains and gathering medicinal herbs. Through hard work, he earns money to improve his family's home and seek treatment for his wife's leg. Loyal and compassionate, he gradually lifts his impoverished household into prosperity through his own efforts, filling their lives with warmth and hope.
