The Life of Poet Immortal Li Bai narrates the legendary life of the Great Tang poet immortal Li Bai. In his youth, indignant at the darkness of the county yamen, young Li Bai resigned from his post, ascended Mount Dakuang, and became a disciple of the hermit Zhao Rui, studying diligently for three years. On his way down the mountain passing through Qingshi Town, he met the brush-wielding maiden Zhou Xiaoyan at Zhou's Brush Shop; a single brush capable of writing poetry initiated a lingering romance. From then on, he wielded his sword across the ends of the earth, visiting famous mountains and great rivers everywhere—Chang'an, the Yellow River, Mount Lu—indulging in poetry and wine, living a life of unbridled joy; while that oil lamp in the brush shop remained forever the brightest light in his heart. From a youth in Shu to a generation's poet immortal, a lifetime of legend is contained entirely within his poems.
