Lin Que inherits a dilapidated building called Happy Apartments. With nowhere else to turn, he becomes bound to a ruthless landlord system. Using low monthly rent as a gimmick to attract tenants, he successively welcomes Wang Chen, Peng Zhuangzhuang, Su Xiaoxiao, and others. While coming up with all sorts of creative fees, such as clothes-drying fees and kitchen-use fees, he upgrades the electrical wiring, installs air conditioners, and builds a shared kitchen, gradually transforming the rundown old building into a popular, internet-famous apartment complex.
