After a zombie crisis breaks out, Liushugou Village in Northeast China discovers a life-saving trick: everyone in the village smears corpse mud on themselves and lowers their body temperature, pretending to be dead to evade the infected. Chen Dashun, who has just been laid off by his company, returns to his hometown and somehow becomes the village's survival administrator. Alongside the fiery-tempered Third Grandma and the level-headed village doctor Lin Xiaohe, he leads a group of somewhat unreliable villagers.
