Li Daniu, a rural farmer who raises livestock in a mountain village, develops his own herbal formula to raise exceptional green-shelled laying hens, attracting a major purchase order offering ten times the usual price. His maternal cousin, Zhao Fugui, blinded by greed, abuses his authority in the cooperative to cut off the water supply and block the roads, forcing Li Daniu to hand over his chicken farm and secret formula. Pretending to give in, Li Daniu lets his opponent lower his guard before escaping under cover of darkness with his chickens along a dangerous mountain trail. With help from his friends, he rebuilds his farm, enters the premium market through superior product quality, establishes his own brand, and rises from an ordinary farmer to a multimillionaire.
