Time-traveler Shen Hui, stranded in the desolate mountains and wild ridges, relied on a cigarette lighter as a stroke of destiny to enter the Qingfeng Temple, unexpectedly awakening a cultivation panel where executing demons and evil spirits can enhance one's cultivation. Newly entering the sect to study teachings with utmost focus, he followed his master Ji Chen down the mountain to investigate the seven major bizarre cases of Qu, successively cracking the ghost-raising sorcery and the living-stake human harm case, and coincidentally met Lu Huan, a little deer demon who was brutally persecuted. Along the way, he fought against evil cultivators, outwitted Bai Yulian, the vice hall master of the White Bone Hall, won using thunder spells, and refined the White Bone destiny sword. From only making moves to level up, he gradually saw through how demons and evil spirits are hard to rival vicious human hearts, faced head-on the evil human acts of capturing and dismembering people for sale, and punished evildoers and rescued children with Daoist magic. The first season concludes, but a new crisis is about to strike.
