Reborn back to the nineteen-eighties, Li Jianguo suddenly wakes up, resolutely splitting up from his biased original family to protect his wife Liang Yuemei and daughter Xiaoxue. Undaunted by the bitter cold, he makes a hardworking living by fishing for opening-river fish in ice holes, seizing the era's opportunities with his wisdom and improving his life by selling fishery catches. Afterwards, he obtains a forester qualification, planning to venture into the mountains to pioneer a new way out, and also helps his brother-in-law Liang Zhongcheng find work. Facing the neighbors' jealousy and the entanglements of his old family, Li Jianguo stays true to his original heart, striving hard to fight for his small family, as the family courageously marches forward toward a secure and prosperous new life.
