Following the pine nut debris, they crossed the bustling market, stepped over the stone bridge, and ventured deep into the quiet bamboo forest, discovering that the key had been taken by a little squirrel to line its nest. Xiaosuo did not forcefully snatch it, but instead helped the squirrel build a warmer new home. Upon returning, the townspeople together repaired the bell rope, copper ring, and bell tongue, and the morning bell rang out once more. From this, Xiaosuo realized that guarding is not confinement and lockdown, but rather letting all things return to their rightful places, allowing the sound that should ring to ring on time.
