The mistress of a marquis's household is reborn and sees through the schemes of the concubine-born daughter and her future son-in-law. When Lin Shuang repeats her old trick of demanding a marriage swap, Madam Shen readily grants her wish, only to turn the tables at every step with IOUs, dowries, and household rules. Meanwhile, she teaches her daughter, Zhao Ning, to manage the family businesses. From the Cloud Brocade Pavilion to military grain supplies and grain transport by canal, and finally opening the granaries to aid the people during a drought, Zhao Ning rises to prominence and is honored with the title of Commandery Lady. Mother and daughter join forces, ruthlessly exposing hypocrisy, humiliating their enemies at every turn, and rewriting their fate.
