When the apocalypse breaks out, Erya is infected and transforms into a zombie. Driven by her obsession with going home to find her mother, she struggles to make her way back to her village. Seeing her daughter with blue-black skin and covered in grime, her tough northeastern Chinese mom isn't frightened at all. She smacks her on the head and scolds her: What kind of mess have you gotten yourself into, you little troublemaker! Even when Erya grows sharp fangs and craves human flesh, her mother still stews chicken, gives her medicine, and risks her life to protect her beloved daughter. As crises spread throughout the village and mutant zombies attack, the evolved Erya develops special abilities that can intimidate other zombies, gradually becoming the village's guardian. Meanwhile, a special antibody in Erya's body attracts the attention of a survival base, dragging mother and daughter into a massive storm of trouble.
