The moment she opens her eyes, she encounters Madam Zhou forcing her to break off her engagement. Gu Huaizhou, a disheveled young man in a blue robe, steps forward and declares that the Gu family's betrothal gifts were settled three hundred years ago. A plum-blossom embroidered handkerchief rekindles a fated bond from the past. He has watched the entrance of her alley for nine years, concealing a prophecy hidden in an ancient painting that they will die on the same day.
