Modern-day scientific prodigy Zhou Yifan, her investor father Zhou Zhenbang, and her mother Su Wanqing accidentally travel through time and inhabit the bodies of three people in ancient times after encountering a pair of mysterious jade bracelets: the Grand Princess of Great Jing, the Emperor, and the Empress, respectively. The three reunite amid palace intrigues and use their modern knowledge and unbreakable family bond to fight their enemies, including the Second Prince, the Liu family, and remnants of the previous dynasty. Using science to dispel superstition and improve people's livelihoods, Zhou Yifan transforms the ancient world while her parents join forces to protect their daughter and put down rebellions. In the end, they gather all the fragments of the time-space artifact, uncover the secrets of the jade bracelets, suppress the rebellion, and safeguard Great Jing, achieving a happy ending in which they can protect one another across both timelines.
