Melons Ripen, Melons Split, A Garden of Sorrows
Watermelon market prices rose from 2.1 to 4.4. Xu Jian'an held back over 120,000 catties of melons waiting for the peak price, but Gao Zhicheng signed with Lu Mingyuan at 1.8, settling per truck loaded. Xu Jian'an also sold his low-lying fields first, causing Gao Zhicheng's dissatisfaction. However, when 4.4 truly arrived, continuous rainfall had already caused the melons to over-ripen, split, and become hollow; fresh sales were only willing to pick at 2.1, the whole batch at 1.5, and the processing plant only gave 0.8. In the end, everyone processed the secondary goods by hard melons, short sales, and processing. The next year, Xu Jian'an graded in advance, locked vehicles and signed contracts, shipping at 2.8, and did not break the contract even when the market rose to 3, realizing that what is in hand is the only truth.
