Screenwriter Lin Xiaojia, working stiff Su Yiyi, and nurse Tang Bingbing mutually recommend web novels. Under a red moon phenomenon, the three collectively traverse into the novels they recommended to each other, landing respectively in the Republic-era warlord, vampire, and ancient imperial power worlds. Relying on the besties' cross-book chat system to exchange intelligence, they repeatedly face death crises, breaking through levels with modern wit and repeatedly being reborn. Lin Xiaojia dallies with the domineering warlord, Su Yiyi resolves the conflicts between the vampire and human races, and Tang Bingbing plays wits with the puppet emperor and the harem. While completing system tasks, they gradually develop romantic feelings with the male leads of each world, fighting against villainous conspiracies. Having gone through life-and-death tribulations, they break the shackles of the novel worlds to return fully to reality, and unexpectedly reunite with old acquaintances from the books.
