Village woman Yumi is actually the primordial true god Taichu. Years ago, to seal Taotie, she split her life gate and gave it to her five children, Moyuan, Yunshu, Pangdun, Yueya, and Chiyu, before falling into a thousand-year slumber. After waking up, she tracks down her children who have already become great beings of the three realms, but she is plotted against by Taotie and the Heavenly Emperor Haotian. The life gate curse causes the children to grow stronger while Yumi grows weaker. Taotie constantly sows discord, causing the five brats to harbor estrangement. The heavenly court takes the opportunity to encircle and suppress them; to save her daughter Yueya, Yumi hands over her original life fire, and her vitality verges on extinction. The five brats search everywhere for a solution, while Haotian, seeing through Taotie's ambition to usurp power, repently asks for help.
