Peasant woman Xiuniang unearths a bronze divine lamp, making a wish to save her husband only to suffer karmic backlash. Realizing the principle of equivalent exchange, she decisively abandons the lamp and regains peace through her own hands. The greedy Member Qian forcibly seizes the lamp, vainly demanding one hundred thousand silver coins and immortality, but unexpected karmic retribution erupts, ruining his family and causing him to fall into a trap, becoming the new vessel spirit. The story criticizes the ugliness of insatiable greed and extols the simplicity and contentment of impoverished commoners.
