Lu Haichuan, a fisherman from Qinglong Bay, is betrayed on a typhoon night when his younger brother, Lu Xiaoyong, and his fiancée, Zhao Xiumei, cut his towline and leave him to be swallowed by the eye of the storm. Bai Ling, a Dragon Palace princess, saves his life with her own dragon blood, awakening his True Dragon Beast Body. Drawing on his experience gathering seafood along the shore and abilities such as eagle eyes, tiger strength, shark-like scent, and whale hearing, Lu Haichuan strikes it rich in tidal caves, buys a motorboat, builds a crew and processing workshop, and eventually expands into an eight-vessel deep-sea fleet. When his younger brother, father, and outside boat owners try to obstruct him, he fights back by the rules and never compromises. In the end, he stabilizes his dragon blood and leads all eight vessels to encircle a golden fish shoal, rising from an abandoned victim of the typhoon to become a king of the deep-sea fishing industry. Bai Ling also chooses to remain in the human world.
