In the bitter depths of winter, honest fellow Zhao Tiezhu, having been exploited for half a lifetime by his partial stepmother and left with nothing after being driven out of the house, picks up the orphan Fubao in the snow and wind, relying on each other for survival. Fubao is clever, sensible, and slightly versed in herbs. The father and daughter go to market to trade and fish on the frozen river, building a passionate and thriving life out of hardship with pure diligence, building a new tile-roofed house, and the younger sister also happily ties the knot. Partial relatives and greedy villains appear one after another and suffer their own retribution; Zhao Tiezhu's kindheartedness in helping others wins the respect of his fellow villagers, reorganizing his family, harvesting happiness, and further driving the villagers to return farmland to forests and guard the green mountains, making their days more and more prosperous.
