Bao Ya was banished to the mortal world due to her gluttony, falling into the Chen family at Feishui Village where she suffered severe mistreatment. After being driven out, He Chunxiu, the third daughter-in-law of the Yun family, took her in. Born with divine fortune, Bao Ya gains divine strength whenever she eats her fill, successively bringing wild goats, morels, and pearl-spitting freshwater mussels to the Yun family, helping them make a fortune selling tofu. She befriends Rong He, the young master of Yaoxiantang, and Jing Zhen, who lives in seclusion on Huya Mountain, and even tames the Lone King of the Snow Wolves. While the Yun family's life flourishes, the Chen family repeatedly causes trouble, with Zhou Cuihua, Chen Xiaojuan, and Chen Chengcai taking turns stirring up issues.
