Lin Haifeng returns home to attend his sister's wedding, but encounters the tragic news that his grandmother Chen Chunmei has "accidentally fallen from a building and died on the spot." The truth is that his sister's fiance Liu Muchuan and adopted daughter Bai Yunting were having an illicit affair and were caught by Chen Chunmei, after which the two perpetrators faked an accident. Detecting numerous suspicious points, Lin Haifeng insists on investigating, repeatedly facing obstruction from the two. Although Chen Chunmei miraculously survives several times, she continuously suffers abuse and covert murder attempts, and Lin Haifeng also encounters a car crash assassination attempt. Secretly setting up surveillance cameras to record all the criminal evidence, Lin Haifeng brings his grandmother to the wedding scene to publicly release the evidence, exposing their conspiracy of murder for money. The two hold the elderly woman hostage as they try to escape, but are arrested and imprisoned by the police.
