Kind-hearted bachelor Daniu rescues Xiaohua, a pregnant woman about to give birth, in the wilderness and takes her home to help her deliver her baby. Abandoned by her husband and with nowhere else to go, Xiaohua is taken in by Daniu out of kindness. However, this sparks strong opposition from his younger sister and displeases Matchmaker Wang, who is arranging a match between him and Xiuyun. Facing gossip from the entire village and the matchmaker's harassment, Daniu and Xiaohua gradually fall in love as they endure hardship together. Yet Xiuyun's persistence, family pressure, and neighborhood gossip create enormous obstacles. Torn by painful inner conflict, Daniu calls off his wedding to Xiuyun on the very day of their marriage and rushes toward Xiaohua. Tragically, he is involved in a car accident along the way, bringing the story to a tragic end.
