The Empress's Cat Cubs
Fertile woman Su Luoshuang enters the palace to attend upon the heirless Emperor Song Zhaoyan, but gives birth to two kittens. To save her life, she lies that she was not pregnant, but had fecal impaction, and what she just gave birth to was a 'huge lump of fecal impaction'. For 'false pregnancy' confusing the imperial lineage, Su Luoshuang is cast into the cold palace. In the cold palace, the two cats unexpectedly transform into children, calling her 'Mother'. While raising the cat children, she gets caught up in the whirlpool of palace infighting. At the critical moment, the emperor arrives, yet inflicts no punishment upon Su Luoshuang, instead feeling an inexplicable familiarity toward the two kittens.
