In every village, there are usually one or two kind-hearted, simple-minded guardians who protect the village. According to the elders, they endure hardship and cultivate virtue to shield the village from disasters. Chen Wang, an overworked office worker born in the 1990s, suddenly dies from exhaustion and is reborn in the 1980s as the recently deceased foolish village guardian of Chen Family Village. With barely anything to his name, he must also care for his beautiful, virtuous mute wife and his adorable little sister. Unwilling to become an exploited wage slave ever again, he is determined to work hard, cure his wife's condition, and provide for his family. Their village lies at the foot of a mountain, rich in resources but full of dangers. With hunting still unrestricted, Chen Wang ventures deep into the mountains, making a better life through hunting and gathering medicinal herbs.
