Waking up to find himself back in 1982, Li Jiawen starts out as a trainee technician banished to an undesirable post. He turns a bankrupt factory around, secures agricultural machinery orders, and passes provincial quality inspections, making his way from Tongshan to Zhenjiang. As his career steadily reaches new heights, the expressive, captivating eyes of radio announcer Wu Xiaomei quietly find their way into his busy life. Their exchanged glances during an interview and unexpected encounters outside the factory canteen soften the heart of this man who has lived two lifetimes. Il parvient à sauver une usine au bord de la faillite, à décrocher des commandes de machines agricoles et à réussir les contrôles qualité provinciaux, se frayant ainsi un chemin de Tongshan jusqu'à Zhenjiang. Alors que sa carrière ne cesse de progresser, les yeux envoûtants et expressifs de Wu Xiaomei, une animatrice de radio, s'immiscent discrètement dans son quotidien trépidant. Les regards échangés pendant une interview et les rencontres inattendues devant la cantine font fondre le cœur de cet homme qui a vécu deux vies.
