1998: The Day I Was Kicked Out With Nothing, I Clutched a Five-Million Grand Prize
Heavy snow in 1998. Driven out by her husband's family with nothing, her maternal family deemed her bad luck and locked their front door tight, and her own younger brother wanted to sell her to a sixty-year-old cripple in exchange for a bride price. No one knew that inside her cotton-padded jacket covered in patches was sewn a five million welfare lottery ticket she had just scratched off. She neither made a fuss nor squandered it, taking over the town's state-owned canned food factory on the verge of bankruptcy, and fought her way out of a bloody path relying on a jar of ancestral spicy sauce. In the end, she realized that what can pull a person up from the mud is never a windfall from the heavens, but that stubborn spirit engraved in a woman's bones that refuses to accept her fate.
