Lin Zigui, a master's graduate in biology, joins Huayuan Biotech and discovers that mysterious deaths keep occurring at the company while her colleagues behave strangely. The terrifying shadow in the corner of the ceiling that has frightened her since childhood unexpectedly transforms into a handsome blond man named A Qi—her eighth soul. A Qi grants her the abilities to fly and become invisible. The two sneak into the boss's office late at night and discover an underground secret chamber where the boss, Zhang San, uses an evil formation to extract employees' blood essence and souls for cultivation. Zhang San extracts three of Lin Zigui's souls, but just as she faces death, her divine soul awakens. A burst of golden light allows her to strike back and cripple Zhang San. Eventually, she is invited to join the military's Zero Department, embarking on a journey to protect the people and defend the Dragon Kingdom.
