In his previous life, Lin Ye, an on-site epidemic prevention officer, let four elderly people carrying sick chickens enter the market out of compassion. Two hours later, a highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreak erupted, forcing the entire market into lockdown and leaving over a thousand people classified as close contacts. Blamed for dereliction of duty, he lost his qualifications and eventually died in isolation, consumed by resentment. Reborn on the same day, he wastes no time activating the emergency alarm and sealing off the market. The four elderly people make every excuse, feign illness, and play the victims, while their family members livestream false accusations to smear him. Market management also tries to smooth things over and pressures him to make an exception. Despite mounting pressure, Lin Ye stands firm. Official testing ultimately confirms that the sick chickens carry a mutated strain, and his decisive action prevents a major public health disaster.
