Gao Buding, a playboy in the capital, and Jiang Buting, an unruly young woman, meet and clash in a busy market, accidentally getting involved in the Qingjian secret scroll and a past injustice involving their fathers. Gao Buding uses his dissipated disguise to secretly investigate the case, while Jiang Buting is stubborn and refuses to listen to advice. Yet through saving each other in dark alleys, exploring abandoned residences, and facing life and death at the sword mound, she sees his true heart. From bickering rivals to standing side by side, they uncover the truth, clear the old injustice, and also resolve the life-saving favor at Weishui River ten years ago. Using the joyful bickering of rivals as a shell, the story writes about trust, protection, and growth. True listening is not listening to others, but hearing one's inner heart and true feelings, eventually settling their love in Chang'an.
